Here’s a little something for all you lovebirds out there. Nefarious! took the time to rework Murs’ “Me And This Jawn.” As a classic song for couples (they met on Valentine’s Day!), Murs does a nice job of detailing his relationship in this song, in case you were not familiar. So take a break from the flowers and chocolates, and check out some fine music instead. Happy Valentine’s Day.
I just happened to catch this treat on Twitter today (isn’t social networking great?). Mr. J. Medeiros gives us a catchy track to hold us over in between projects. This time around Stro remixes “Umpire State” which features some incredible tongue-twisters from Mr. J. Medeiros, and irresistible, upbeat production. Check it out, and be sure to keep your ears open for more from Mr. J. in the future.
Here is a fantastic remix that Ill Poetic shot over yesterday for Sade’s single, “Keep Us From Falling”. Nice to see new music from Poetic, he always seems to set the bar at a new level with his production. And how appropriate of a song to remix as we are only one week away from the release of Sade’s newest album, Soldier of Love. Give this joint a spin or two and let us know what you think after the skip…
Alex from The Kickdrums just sent over this superb remix to The Constellations song, “Setback”. Featuring an ultra funky, danceable vibe, this is just sort of music you need to heat up your frigid winter days. For those familiar with The Kickdrums previous work, this track will come as no surprise, as it uses a beat rooted in hip-hop, but takes a definite step away from traditional hip-hop sounds. Stay tuned for more news regarding some outrageous plans The Kickdrums have brewing.
One of my personal favorite Boston rappers, Will C., decided to put together an exclusive package for the Potholes family. He took the classic Intelligent Hoodlum track, “Black and Proud” and made an incredible remix to it. Besides dropping a tight track for us, Will is also giving us a behind the scenes peek at his work on the MPC when creating this remix via a very amusing video.
For those who are unfamiliar with Will’s previous work, be sure to check out his fantastic debut album, Evil In The Mirror, which dropped on Brick Records earlier this year. He combines banging beats and clever rhymes with an ear for true-school hip-hop, creating a dope overall sound.
Will wanted to leave us some of his personal insights, so hit the skip for a quick word from the artist himself, as well as the video for the original track…
The good people at Backwoodz Studioz just sent over the first single from the upcoming mixtape, Deleted Scenes, from Super Chron Flight Brothers. The “Guy Fawkes Remix” features production from the multi-talented Willie Green, and without spoiling anything, let’s just say it packs a punch. The original track appeared on their last full-length, Emergency Powers: The World Tour, back in 2007. Deleted Scenes is scheduled to drop as a free download on November 17, so be sure to look out for that. It will feature brand new tracks, remixes, and rare B-Sides.
I’d like to first start this post off congratulating the entire A-Side Worldwide family for Mayer Hawthorne’s break into the top-10 albums on iTunes today. A Strange Arrangement, the highly acclaimed debut LP dropped September 1st and has since received tons of acclaim from such artists as John Mayer. Unfortunately he has dropped back a little bit on the top albums chart, but that is where you come in! That’s right, you can still hop on iTunes and make your contribution to good music right now. And on top of that, Astronote has blessed us with a second remix of the classic track, “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out”. Cop the remix, buy the album and share your spread the word!
Moe Pope has been killing the Boston hip-hop scene since his days back with Electric Company and Project Move. For those not familiar with the smooth emcee, he packs a lyrical punch in every rhyme and delivers with a tremendously refreshing flow. Moe Pope’s been working with Headnodic (likely most famous for his production work with Crown City Rockers) for a while now. They released an extremely successful LP, Megaphone, in 2008.
Once again the duo is back at it, this time remixing songs from musician/singer Bjork. Say what you will about Bjork, but MegaBjork holds nothing back, and provides a glimpse into hip-hop at its purest. Check it out.
Here is the second leak off of the DJ K.O. upcoming remix project for Beat*Society, Picture These Remixes. This time around Veterano remixed “3 In The Chamber” which features the legendary O.C. alongside two of today’s illest up torchbearers — Torae & Kaze. Peep the track and watch out for more information on Beat*Society & DJ K.O. – Master Thieves Vol. 2 (Picture These Remixes) coming soon, enjoy!
Kero One dropped one of my favorite LPs for far this year with Early Believers, and today he is back with a very dope remix he did for Talib Kweli’s “Keep It In The Pocket”. I believe this was on Kero’s Myspace a while back, but it is finally here for your downloading pleasure. Some very smooth production on this remix, something that is just a given these days from him. Check out the track, cop the album, and let us know what you think!
