I posted a couple of Baths remixes last week, but he dropped another today that was too good to pass up. This one features The One AM Radio (Hrishikesh Hirway), as he gives “Hall” a rather conventional spin compared to the original. With another helping hand from Lost Feliz Ladies Choir, there isn’t much that is going to be messing with this track. While I can’t say I prefer the remix over the original, it’s nice to hear some of Baths’ original ideas being computed with a conventional drum rhythm and sequencing. Cerulean is available July 6 via Anticon.

The buzz is at an all time high for The Morning Benders, the California outfit that has been bringing us some of the freshest indie tunes this year. While their acclaimed LP Big Echo dropped only a few months ago, the remixes have begun to check in. This particular remix is for one of my favorite album cuts, “Cold War”, and it is done by the man known as Wallpaper. The homie Keelay was hipping me to Wallpaper the other day, boy does this guy know how to make music! I am not sure if we can expect any more remixes from Big Echo any time soon, but we can only hope after hearing this one. Also included in the post is a stream of a song that The Morning Benders unleashed that didn’t end up making the album called “Go Grab A Stranger”. The Acorn’s most recent album No Ghost, is packed with infectious folk and laidback melodies. Four Tet took note of this and broke down their recent single, “Restoration”, built it back up and made it his own. I must also note that Four Tet recently released an album called There Is Love In You, which is an absolutely spectacular change of pace for the instrumental artist. On this particular remix, we do get to hear some of Four Tet’s signature elements, but he also plays with some skills we haven’t seen much of in his past work. Check it out and enjoy your weekend! Coming out of Los Angeles’ heavy electronic scene, the trio known as Pollyn has jumped onto our radar with their pop-influence and infectious rhythms. Today we get a sneak peak of their remix EP, which will feature dEbruit, Blue Daisy and Sid Roams. The track being unveiled at this time is Sid Roams version of “Still Love”. Adding a ton of heavy-hitting drums and synths, Sid gives this song the southern treatment. Check it out and be sure to let us know what you think.

Ayatollah’s latest instrumental project The Quixotic is available in stores and on iTunes today. To help celebrate this new project Nature Sounds & Nodfactor.com are releasing a free Quixotic Remix EP. From “Ms. Fat Booty” for Mos Def to “My Life” for Styles P & Pharoahe Monch. Ayatollah’s classic production is some of the best from that Rawkus Era to present. In between producing he’s been steadily releasing instrumental albums. On this free EP he showcases some of his latest instrumentals off The Quixotic and matches up with some classic hip-hop acapella’s by Eminem, Royce 5’9, Mobb Deep and others. Suite for Ma Dukes, as those who have seen it can attest, is one of the more moving concert films I have seen. It’s nearly impossible to not get chills or goosebumps while viewing the DVD, especially on tracks like “Untitled/Fantastic”. So I suppose it’s only fitting that the ever-eclectic and productive Georgia Anne Muldrow decided to tackle the orchestrated version of “Untitled/Fantastic”. The remix will be found on the Timeless Remixed EP due out this summer and set to feature Te’Amir remixing Multatu Astatke and Jneiro Jarel remixing Arthur Verocai. In other words, be sure to keep your eyes (and ears) open for that EP, as it’s already sounding great from this track alone.
