Download: Reason – “Carnival” [mp3]
The homie Falside just shot over this leak from Reason’s now available Landlords & Lullabies. “Carnival”, which is produced by California’s PhillipDrummond, is a bit darker than the tracks we have heard from this LP thus far. But it shows that Reason has the ability to cut a feel-good track like “Paid Bills” and then tackle a more somber vibe on “Carnival”. If these songs have been any indication, it’s safe to say you should probably head over to iTunes and cop Landlords & Lullabies. Or you can just purchase it through PayPal. Either one.

With his album dropping this coming Tuesday, Reason has unleashed another leak from his very good Landlords & Lullabies. We previously got a taste of “Paid Bills“, which you probably heard on the Ocean State Sampler. But this time, it’s “I Don’t Want to Build”, another Falside-produced joint featuring a little help from Dirty Hank. It’s a scathing look at the MySpace/’net-era of hip-hop that Reason clearly is not the biggest fan of. And it makes the wait until Tuesday that much more difficult, though if you’re in that boat you should probably pre-order the damn album already. Do so by going here and receiving a ton of free goodies.

Reason, of the Poorly Drawn People Collective and stellar Rhode Island MC, is prepping the release of his upcoming Landlords & Lullabies. And to whet our appetites, he sent over the first leak, “Paid Bills”, which some of you might have heard on the Ocean State Sampler. It’s a upbeat joint offering smooth lyricism and a funky-ass beat from Falside.
You can also preorder Reason’s Landlords & Lullabies album by clicking here. It costs $10 for the album and that includes shipping and free hard copies of his Stalker Stories mixtape and Falside’s Dollars Make Change mixtape. Hit the jump for the album’s track list.

To prepare the world for his upcoming Landlords and Lullabies album dropping in April, Reason has put together this mixtape of 15 unreleased tracks. Fans of the Ocean State Sampler will know Reason as one of the talented MCs featured on that release and others will of course know him as a member of the Poorly Drawn People collective.
Stalker Stories features production from Potholes-regular Falside as well as Dox, of Poorly Drawn People, and PhillipDrummond. Reason is joined on the microphone by guests Storm Davis, Dirty Hank, Cas Uno, Esh The Monolith and Intrikit. Check out this free mixtape and be sure to let us know your thoughts!

Download: Dirty Hank – Dirty Hank’s Guide to Giving Up [EP]
Ocean State MC Dirty Hank spent the past six months working on this EP, a mix of tracks that’s sure to leave you feeling “anxious” and “deprived.” In other words, I think this one will have you hitting the rewind and repeat buttons as Hank spits his raunchy and clever bars atop beats from Falside and Mad Plaid. Hank’s also joined on here by Reason, of Poorly Drawn People, for two tracks. That all adds up to Dirty Hank’s Guide to Giving Up, a seven-track EP that presents “random acts of fuckery [that] bleed pain, anger, frustration, sexual angst, and disgust.” Sounds insane, but awesome to me.
Exclusive: Ocean State Sampler [Album]
It took me a few months to finally get this put together, but Potholes In My Blog is proud to present the Ocean State Sampler. I was inspired to do this after we dropped our first project, Transmitting Live Vol. 1, this summer. I just needed to do something to showcase the talent residing in Rhode Island, where I call home. And after a few delays and an amended track listing, it’s finally here. I am very excited to present new music from these artists, who range from Jon Hope to Dirty Hank to Joe Beats to Zumo Kollie.
Every track on this project is either unreleased or will appear on a future album dropping in the next few months. OK, to be fair, the Jahpan track can be grabbed off iTunes, but it’s only available at a few digital outlets. And when he hit me up a week ago to be included on this, I just had to include him. Nothing left to do now but download this 10-track sampler and let us know what you think. A huge thank you to every artist included on here and to Objektiv One who supplied the excellent artwork. And if you are an R.I. rapper or producer looking to collaborate on a sequel to this project, hit us via e-mail on the contact page. Hit the jump for the track listing and artwork.
