1. Kanye West at the VMA’s. Probably the most overblown news story of the year. There are bigger issues in the world. Blame it on the Hennessey and keep it moving.
2. Pioneering DJ Grand Master Roc Raida passes away. Another hip-hop legend gone to soon in 2009. Roc Raida was battling complications from surgery. This weekend his condition worsened and he passed away. Busta Rhymes confirmed the news on Twitter. Our prayers are with his family.
3. Benefit concert in Detroit for Hexmurda. We hope people come out and support the cause. And we hope Hex makes a full recovery really soon. Read the rest of this entry »

1. Beastie Boys album gets pushed back, MCA diagnosed with cancer. Hopefully MCA makes a full recovery soon, which is expected since the cancer is treatable. There’s way too much death going on of late.
2. Ma Dukes and J Dilla’s heirs succeed in legal battle. After all the hardships Ma Dukes has gone through with J Dilla’s estate since his passing, it’s great to know the right people will be receiving the money now.
3. Method Man & Joe Budden squash the beef at Rock The Bells. It’s good to see petty beefs come to an end, but damn, a series of Slaughterhouse and Wu-Tang diss tracks would have been nice. Read the rest of this entry »

1. NBA Finals: Lakers win the NBA Championship beating the Magic (4-1) in the series. Kobe Bryant finally wins his 1st NBA title without Shaquille O’Neal. He now has 4 NBA rings. He`s still not likable, but he has proven the doubters wrong.
2. Berkley College of Music starts a J Dilla course. In honour of the late great producer, the College has created two hip-hop classes; the Dilla Ensemble and Turntable Techniques so that Jay Dee’s music and legacy continue to be taught to a new generation. Dilla lives forever!
3. Slaughterhouse on Itsthereal.com The lastest sketch by the Rosenthal brothers is easily one of the funniest we’ve seen in a while. As Slaughterhouse preps the release of their debut album, the boys shows us their more sensitive side. Read the rest of this entry »

1. De La Soul releases collaboration album with Nike: Are You In? It’s good, but not much more than that. And hey, at least we have new De La! 45 minutes of running/sweating to the Plugs…lol
   
2. Maxwell Returns after a long hiatus with “Pretty Wings” Just what R&B game has been missing. This is the first single off his upcoming album Black Summer’s Night, which will be first release in 7 years.
