Santigold – “Go” f. Karen O p. Q-Tip

Who would have ever thought this gnarly of a collaboration would have ever seen the light of day? Santigold, whether you like her or not, makes some catchy ass music. With the help of two more of my favorite artists, Karen O on vocals and Q-Tip on production, “Go”, is a fun little jam that has me all sorts of excited on this beautiful day. With additional production from Switch, and guitar work from Nick Zinner, I can’t help but compliment this cast of musicians on how well this project came together. This song will appear on Santigold’s Santogold, which will hopefully be dropping sooner than later (and hopefully it will be better than fellow indie chick M.I.A.’s latest LP).

Growing up, Where The Wilds Things Are was one of those books you could always depend on. Luckily, last year Spike Jonze gave it the Hollywood treatment, supported by a magnificent soundscape by Karen O. Today, producer Emay has decided to hit the boards and rework some of those nostalgic masterpieces into heavy hitting tracks of his own. Featuring 6 songs of pure instrumental bliss, the Canadian musician has done it once again. It’s a great pleasure to be leaking the first track off Emay’s upcoming project today, Emay, Karen and The Kids. Growing up reading Where The Whild Things Are, this project hits a very special place. With help from the work of Karen O, Emay gets busy and samples the soundtrack to the movie of Where The Wild Things Are. Now I have been following this kid’s production for some time now, but he really stepped it up a couple notches with this one. Using epic synths and heavy drums, “Worried Shoes” sheds a new light on Karen’s work. Give this a spin and be sure to check back next week when we drop the entire project!

For those who don’t know, DJ House Shoes is one of the most influential figures in the hip-hop scene, especially well-known for his work in and around the Detroit area. He now passes along the torch to present the latest work from Chanes, An Experiment in Instrumentation. Playing with electronic, ambient, trip-hop, and classic Detroit thump, this instrumental album is sure to be a delight for all the beat heads out there. And for all you indie heads, you may appreciate the Karen O feature on the opening track.
