9th Wonder returns with his second installment of the 9th Invented the Remix (AGAIN). 9th Wonder released his original remix project was back in 2003 after the success of Little Brother’s The Listening. The new mixtape has some notable hip-hop and R&B remixes. Some of the highlights include Little Brother’s – “Not Enough (More)” (9th Wonder STILL Ain’t Enough Remix), Tweet’s – “Turn Da Lights Off” (9th Wonder Oh No You Didn’t Remix) which samples Teddy Pendergrass’ “Turn Off The Lights” remixed with 9th wonder’s drums. Some of the other R&B remixes were a bit underwhelming, but he did remix “Wordplay” by A Tribe Called Quest so there’s still a lot to like on here. Please let us know the what you think. 2. Super-producer Solaar proclaims the Dirty South isn’t hip-hop. Peep the 2:30-minute mark of that video. Guru’s career is tanking by the minute. How the mighty have fallen. He’s taking a page from Mobb Deep’s book on bad career moves.

1. Q-Tip Noisemakers Event. Pete Rosenberg hosted his third installment of this event with the legendary Q-Tip. They discussed his early beginnings with Tribe, J Dilla, and how Busta Rhymes almost joined the group after L.O.N.S. broke up.
2. Blu will record for next Roots LP! Hearing that Black Thought and Blu will spit on the same track might just be the best news we have heard in the past week. To say we, and presumably a bunch of others, are excited is a massive understatement. Great news, real talent recognizes real talent.
3. Mos Def may join Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek on Rock The Bells tour. What better way to promote The Ecstatic? This rumor also works as yet another teaser of a Black Star follow-up record. Read the rest of this entry »
