This track won’t appear on OJ Simpson or Madlib Medicine Show No. 1, but Stones Throw felt like giving it away anyway. “Before the Verdict” features Madlib’s trademark blunted production and some nice bars from Guilty Simpson. But it’s sloppy, particularly that “hook,” if you can call it that. It’s a little too raw, unfortunately, though it’s free and certainly worth checking out. Let us know your thoughts!

Madlib, Madlib, Madlib…do you ever rest? Stones Throw just announced this new 12-part, monthly series known as the Madlib Medicine Show.  The first piece of this puzzle, known as Before The Verdict, will hit the ST store next month and features longtime-collaborator Guilty Simpson. The label also referred to this release as a prelude of sorts to the Madlib/Guilty album OJ Simpson. Check the track and let us know your thoughts!

Stones Throw just threw this joint up on Twitter from a brand new compilation called Forge Your Own Chains. You can read more about the compilation here, but from what I read, it sounds pretty damn dope. But all that aside, here’s a new track from Guilty Simpson & Oh No called “My Time to Shine”. But it’s not what you think. First, you have Guilty spittin’ like the monster he is over the original sample. And then, Oh No flips the sample for the second-half of the track. You gotta love it.

We just got the first leak from West Coast emcee Jern Eye’s new LP, Vision, which is sounding fantastic so far. With Keelay & Zaire behind the boards, the track “So and So” really had enough going for it already. But one of my favorite guest rappers (and rappers in general) Guilty Simpson hops on for a guest verse and some adlibs to take this one to another level. Vision, Jern Eye’s sophomore effort, is set to drop Oct. 13 on one of our favorite labels, MYX, and will feature Zion I, Nightclubber Lang, Mistah F.A.B., and several others. Be on the lookout for more information as we get closer to that release date and enjoy “So and So”!
