dollarsmakechange front1 300x300 Download: Falside Dollars Make Change [Mixtape]Providence, R.I.’s own Falside, one of Potholes’ favorite up-and-coming producers, does the damn thing on a consistent basis. He not only delivers heat for his own beat tape and remix projects, but he also hooked us up with some slick exclusives for the Ocean State Sampler. He also apparently never rests as he put together this killer mixtape featuring a slow of cats we all know and enjoy. I’m talking guys like Reef the Lost Cauze, C-Rayz Walz, El Da Sensei, Pacewon, Reks, and members of Poorly Drawn People. I could name the rest but come on, those alone are enough to go on and download this 19-track mixtape. Dollars Make Change is primed to further thrust this young beatsmith into the spotlight so get familiar, damn it! Hit the skip for the track listing.

dirty hank The Guide to Giving Up ep 297x300 Download: Dirty Hank Dirty Hanks Guide to Giving Up [EP]Ocean State MC Dirty Hank spent the past six months working on this EP, a mix of tracks that’s sure to leave you feeling “anxious” and “deprived.” In other words, I think this one will have you hitting the rewind and repeat buttons as Hank spits his raunchy and clever bars atop beats from Falside and Mad Plaid. Hank’s also joined on here by Reason, of Poorly Drawn People, for two tracks. That all adds up to Dirty Hank’s Guide to Giving Up, a seven-track EP that presents “random acts of fuckery [that] bleed pain, anger, frustration, sexual angst, and disgust.” Sounds insane, but awesome to me.

c ray walz 300x300 Download: C Rayz Walz Catching the Strange prod. Falside [mp3]The homie Falside just sent over this first leak from his upcoming Dollars Make Change mixtape. And it features C-Rayz Walz spitting over a piano-laden beat that’s over far too quickly if you ask me. But hey, brevity is a lost art so I can really appreciate this. The rest of the mixtape is set to feature and insane line-up. I’m talking cats like Reef the Lost Cauze, Pacewon, El Da Sensei, Jaysaun (Special Teamz), Ill Bill (La Coka Nostra), B-Real (Cypress Hill), Reason (Poorly Drawn People), Blaq Poet, Termanology and more. Be on the look out for the full download very soon.

Meetn Veggies 300x300 Download: Falside vs. DJ Emoh Betta Meetn Veggies [EP]Providence, R.I.-based producer Falside met up with Boston-based turntablist DJ Emoh Betta, of The Deck Demons, for an afternoon of Pad Thai, caffeine, and brainstorming. Meet’n Veggies is the result. It’s a free five-track EP that blends Falside’s boom-bap elements with DJ Emoh’s ridiculous skills on the decks. If this is anything like what I have heard from Fal in the past — yes, I haven’t had a chance to listen yet — this is sure to stay in the rotation for at least the next week or two. Enjoy.

albundy 300x232 Download: Intuition Future Ex Wife & Al Bundy (Falside Remix) [mp3]“Future Ex-Wife” represents another leak off Intuition’s upcoming Girls Like Me album, which drops Jan. 26. As I have said in my previous posts on Intuition, his sophomore album only gets better after each listen. Of course, you can expect a full review on here so I won’t spoil anything with this post. Anyway, “Future Ex-Wife” is laced with a smooth hook from crooner Travis Brown and an equally silky beat. Personally, I’m a fan of the track ’cause I’m going through a similar type of emotion/mindstate described by Intuition and the track’s title. The second cut is Falside’s remix of Intuition’s already dope “Al Bundy”, another Girls Like Me cut. Fal adds equal amounts of shine and gloom to the track, which turns into something completely new. I’m not sure which version I dig more — the original or the remix — because, well, both are pretty slick.

But enough babbling, give these a spin and let us know your thoughts, per usual.

jaytermblaq Download: Blaq Poet, Termanology, Jaysaun King of the Jungle (Official Falside Remix) [mp3]

Here’s the latest cut from Falside, one of my favorite (local) producers. For this track, he’s officially remixing “King of the Jungle” by heavy-hitting MCs Blaq Poet, Termanology, and Jaysaun (of Special Teamz). Aside from being a nice lil’ Christmas gift, this cut serves as a preview of Fal’s upcoming official remix LP, which is due out mid-2010.

OceanStateSampler 1024x1024 Exclusive: Ocean State Sampler [Album]It took me a few months to finally get this put together, but Potholes In My Blog is proud to present the Ocean State Sampler. I was inspired to do this after we dropped our first project, Transmitting Live Vol. 1, this summer. I just needed to do something to showcase the talent residing in Rhode Island, where I call home. And after a few delays and an amended track listing, it’s finally here. I am very excited to present new music from these artists, who range from Jon Hope to Dirty Hank to Joe Beats to Zumo Kollie.

Every track on this project is either unreleased or will appear on a future album dropping in the next few months. OK, to be fair, the Jahpan track can be grabbed off iTunes, but it’s only available at a few digital outlets. And when he hit me up a week ago to be included on this, I just had to include him. Nothing left to do now but download this 10-track sampler and let us know what you think. A huge thank you to every artist included on here and to Objektiv One who supplied the excellent artwork. And if you are an R.I. rapper or producer looking to collaborate on a sequel to this project, hit us via e-mail on the contact page. Hit the jump for the track listing and artwork.

Falside - Cold FeatThe latest beat tape from Falside, who hails from Providence, R.I., serves two functions. First and foremost, he promises — and I’m sure he delivers on this promise — that Cold Feat is better than the tape he dropped this summer, Bugs In Ya Teef, which was a nice effort itself. Beyond that, Fal also appears on the Ocean State Sampler that drops tomorrow and features all new, mostly exclusive tracks from some of Rhode Island’s best rappers and producers. As usual, give this tape a listen and let us know if you’re feeling it.
