If you’re a Potholes regular, you have probably noticed we dig what’s come from the 5 O’Clock Shadowboxers. Their The Slow Twlight was easily one of the best surprises of last year and now they’re coming back with a new project. Broken Clocks EP will bring more of the hazy, slightly creepy, and sometimes-epic greatness from the duo of Zilla Rocca and Douglas Martin, aka Blurry Drones. “No Resolution 2″, a return to a track from The Slow Twilight, is the EP’s first leak and sets the bar pretty high with guest spots from Has-Lo, Elucid, and Nico the Beast. Check it out and let us know your thoughts. As always, huge props to Objektiv One on the killer artwork.
Here is an interesting project from a new face to me, Lyle Horowitz. Featuring the likes of Shameless Plug, PreZZure, Elucid, SLik D, Sha James and more, I could not overlook. You may recognize some of the samples featured on this project. Click the individual songs on the bandcamp to see what it is! Give it a spin and share some thoughts…
Khal comes through with some more Elucid heat today, and it goes hard. You can always depend on the Lessondary folk to bring the goods, this is just another prime example. Be sure to also check out The Sub Bass Diet, that album is maddness, and free! Give it a spin and let us know what you think after the skip…
Here is a little something that the homie Elucid cooked up, full of bruising bass and drums. With a heavy influence from Flying Lotus, this 8-bit masterpiece is guaranteed to get your eardrums moving. Here is a direct quote from Elucid,
“The Sub Bass Diet showcases my love for 8 bit electronic sounds and digital rhythms. Inspired by dub reggae/dubstep, global street art culture and free form experimental producers like Flying Lotus, The Sub Bass Diet explores the power of drum & bass as the vehicle for transcendence.”
Haj shot this over earlier today, a fresh tape from Philly’s own, DN3. Not really sure what this is (Mixtape, EP, LP), but I am just going to go ahead and call it a collection of dopeness. DN3 has beats, plain and simple. And not only do we get some fresh instrumentals, but cats like Random, Donwill, Elucid, Jermiside, Musiq, Frank-N-Dank and more are featured on here. Enough from me, give this a spin and let us know what you think…
We dropped the sampler on you last week, but here is your chance to cop the EP in it’s entirety, brought to you by RIK. Couldn’t tell you I saw this collaboration coming between Rob Viktum and Donwill, but I am glad that it came together the way it did. They came hard with a handful of high-quality hip-hop joints, perfect for a casual listen as well as an in-depth breakdown. Give it a download and share your thoughts after the skip…
Today you get your second peak at Potholes In My Blog Presents… Transmitting Live mixed by DJ Traumatix, dropping next Tuesday (August 25th)! And since this mixtape is for you, the readers, why not drop two joints at the same time? That’s right, this is a double single featuring Sene, Blu, King Magnetic, Elucid and Haj of Dumhi. Two very different songs that give you a good idea of how diverse Transmitting Live will truly be. Check them out and share your thoughts after the skip…

Rob Viktum just tweeted this snippet mix preview of his upcoming project Aight, New Drink with Donwill, who you know as one-third of Tanya Morgan. It’s a five-track project featuring other members of the Lessondary crew, such as Von Pea and Elucid, and several other guests. If this mini-mix is any indication, you would be wise to hit up RappersIKnow on Sept. 1 to download this for free. I know I will.
