Hood Zion & Tito [Potholes Premiere]While the musical initiative known as DUDES has been indie-centric, their influences are deeply rooted in hip-hop. That inspiration is fed off of heavily in their latest jam, “Green Summer”, which samples Queen’s “Cool Cat” and features a pair of verses from Hood Zion and Tito. DUDES says this is their most “hip-hop” song yet, which makes it all the more appropriate to be premiered on Potholes today. With that, the entire Summer Vacation EP, where “Green Summer” resides, is available now over on Bandcamp. Give the single a spin and let us know what you think. There isn’t much information available on  the mysterious “Icelandic” producer, Celista. Last September he/she (?) self-released a blissed out 5-track EP for free on Bandcamp. On the newest single, “Brooklyn”, Celista flips a hard-hitting Biggie Smalls sample into a refreshing, 3-min beatscape.

The synthesizers are ice-cold and that bass is thumping…

DUDES is a member of KYNAN, Da Bears, TV Girl, and D/Wolves. You may have heard of some of these bands, but I am here to make you aware of all the awesomeness that is coming out of this tight knit community of talented young musicians right now. DUDES has now released a free seven-track EP on Bandcamp, and it is filled with fuzzy, abstract nostalgia that you would have expected from indie jammers like this. Along with this teaser of a project, there is word that DUDES and company will be releasing much more work in the near future. Stay tuned for more details on that.
