Dibia$e – “Lumberjack”

dibiase Dibia$e LumberjackI showed love to this California producer a few weeks back via one of my sporadic Under The Radar posts that highlighted several of the beats he’s shared for free on Soundcloud. And I’m glad to see that now I can post some actual new album material from Dibia$e as I’ve been looking forward to some stuff like this as of late. “Lumberjack”, which I grabbed off the always-great site Culture King, might fall under what some people label as (shudder) “post-Dilla.” But seeing how I hate that term, I’m just going to call this straight-up dope. That’s it. The layering of sounds on here is simply great and I love the use of the wavering synths, in particular.

“Lumberjack” can be streamed below or downloaded after the jump. Dibia$e’s Machines Hate Me is due out in September.

Under The Radar: DiBia$e – Random Tracks

dibiase Under The Radar: DiBia$e Random TracksWhile I had seen his name here and there previously, I was acquainted with DiBia$e through his production on two Intuition projects. He provided one of the best beats on both Girls Like Me (“Al Bundy”) and the Buzz EP with VeRBS (“Really”). DiBia$e’s builds on the style so many like to dub as post-Dilla, abstract-hop without sounding like a biter or bandwagon’er. Instead, he just makes damn good instrumentals that some MCs and singers are lucky enough to lay their vocals over. For this week’s Under The Radar, I thought I’d link to a few of this producer’s tracks that he has offered for free on his SoundCloud page for your enjoyment.

Hit the skip to hear some freshness from Mr. DiBia$e.

Video: Intuition – “Al Bundy”

Here are the visuals for Intution’s “Al Bundy” produced by Dibiase. Definitely feelin’ it, which comes as no surprise since I’ve been following Lee and enjoying his music since reviewing his fantastic debut, Stories About Nothing, for OKP.

Download: Shawn Jackson – Bang Boogie prod. Dibia$e

Shawn Jackson has been doing his thing over in LA for a minute, but I never actually was put on to his music until about a year ago. First time I heard his hard-hitting wordplay was on his solo LP, First of All… Since then I have been copping everything he touches. This joint right here, over a Dibiase beat, proves once again that Shawn can absolutely annihilate any track he touches. Give it a download and let us know what you think…
