My Mama Named Me Dudley: An Interview with Declaime

Dudley Perkins My Mama Named Me Dudley: An Interview with Declaime

Somewhere in outer-space, we ran into Declaime flying around on SomeOthaShip. Thankfully, he took a second to slow down and chat it up with Potholes. Never one to bite his tongue, Declaime gave us some of the most interesting answers of any interview. In fact, I’m not entirely sure how well he answered some of the questions, but after reading this if you don’t understand what Declaime is all about, then it is possible you never will. He drops some knowledge about the reasons he makes music and why he chooses to live the life he does. Check it out, get enlightened, and leave us your thoughts. Don’t forget to support his latest project, Fonk.

And to celebrate that EP release, we present a new single from Someothaship. “Get Up” features two great guest spots in Prince Po and yU as well as cuts from DJ Clear amongst the madness created by Georgia and Declaime. We also have a “GoGo” remix from none other than Oddisee. Get to clickin’ and, if you aren’t yet, get familiar with two of hip-hop/soul/R&B’s finest artists.

GandD 02 300x299 Download: Georgia Anne Muldrow & Declaime Endure f. Rapper Big Pooh & M.E.D. [mp3]Georgia Anne Muldrow and Declaime team up with Rapper Big Pooh and M.E.D. for the wheezy, smoky “Endure”, which stumbles only because of its whiny beat. Otherwise, the production remains moody and atmospheric as Big Pooh and M.E.D. deliver solid guest verses. This track is off SomeOthaShip, Georgia and Declaime’s upcoming album that is due out digitally Feb. 16 and in retail stores Feb. 23.

The Weekly Rundown (Sept 7-14)

rundown copy The Weekly Rundown (Sept 7 14)

Welcome to the weekly rundown where we (soulsupreme and Marty) provide you with our top ten headlines for the week that was.

  1. Phonte/Nicolay don’t want you to buy City Lights 2: Shibuya from iTunes. We shouldn’t be surprised since iTunes has pulled shit like this before. But it’s still a damn shame that they have messed up this release. Just make sure to hit up Amazon, Rhapsody, e-Music, etc… to pick this one up. I (Marty) have spun it a few times and it’s absolutely worth the money. And be on the look-out for a review this coming week.
  2. Jay-Z – Answer the Call concert @ MSG. Incredible concert for a worthy cause.  Jay-Z and a number of guest appearances from the likes of John Mayer, Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, Kid Cudi & Rihanna. They, put simply, rocked MSG for the 9/11  benefit concert.
  3. Raekwon OB4CL2 Release Party @ Santos, NYC. We wish we could have been there for the festivities. If the party was even one-tenth as good as the actual album, it was probably ridiculous. Peep the video and pretend you were lucky enough to attend.
