Zo! – “This Could Be The Night” F. Eric Roberson, Darien Brockington & Rapper Big Pooh

Zo Zo! This Could Be The Night F. Eric Roberson, Darien Brockington & Rapper Big PoohWe just received the official first single for Zo! upcoming album Sunstorm. We recently featured “Greatest Weapon Of All Time” as an introduction to this very promising LP. The first single features Eric Roberson, Darien Brockington & Rapper Big Pooh. It’s a funky track that just makes you wanna dance. Eric Roberson and Darien Brockington provide smooth vocals as Zo! handles the instrumentation and production duties. Rapper Big pooh also provides some dope bars for this uptempo song. Based on the latest two songs along with the …Just Visiting Too [EP] from last year, I’m pretty excited to hear Zo!’s new album. Check out the latest single and get ready to cop Sunstorm July 27th via FE Music!

The Foreign Exchange’s Road to the 2010 Grammy’s

The Foreign Exchange The Foreign Exchanges Road to the 2010 GrammysThere are not many albums that have dropped in the past few years that I have played as much as the Foreign Exchange’s Leave It All Behind. Sure, a big reason for that was I was going through a rough break-up and could easily relate to all of the sentiments expressed through the LP’s lyrics. But it went beyond mere relation to the emotions expressed both vocally and instrumentally. Phonte and Nicolay with the help of YahZarah, Darien Brockington, Muhsinah, and others created  what was, to be blunt, a beautifully crafted, nearly perfect R&B/soul album. And while the Grammy’s are kind of a crock, the awards committee still makes some fine choices now and then. Most notably, they nominated the Foreign Exchange’s “Daykeeper” for Best Urban/Alternative Performance. While they lost to Maxwell (who also deserved the nod), hopefully next year they will bring the gramophone trophy.

Hit the jump to watch a mini-documentary outlining just how the Foreign Exchange got to the Grammy’s along with an acoustic performance of “I Wanna Know” and “Daykeeper”.

zo!There are few musicians in hip-hop that actually get me excited. Zo! is one of those musicians. Catching me completely by surprise this evening, Zo! dropped this wonderful EP of covers, featuring FE homies like Yahzarah, Carlitta Durand, Phonte, Sy Smith and Darien Brockington. This serves as a perfect teaser to hold us over until the summer when Zo drops his LP, SunStorm. Give it a spin and share some thoughts after the skip!

Concert Review: The Foreign Exchange (B.B. King’s Blues Club, NYC)

As long as The Foreign Exchange is performing, no one can ever even think about showmanship being dead. The eight-piece band that took the stage of B.B. King’s Blues Club & Grille on Oct. 23 moved the crowd in a way that few acts are capable. And it all started at 1 a.m. As such, you would think a show starting that late would lend itself to a somewhat less-than-energetic audience. But that was simply not the case – I mean, this is New York City we’re talking about.

Video: Foreign Exchange – “Take Off The Blues” ft. Darien Brockington

The Foreign Exchange’s smooth, lush, and flat-out fantastic Leave It All Behind was easily one of 2008’s best records. It might have put someConnected fans off at first for the lack of rapping, but it quickly picked up critical and fan acclaim. And why not? Phonte’s crooning and songwriting proved he can basically do it all while Nicolay continued to pummel us all with gorgeous production. Here we have the album’s second single in “Take Off The Blues”, one of my favorite joints off Leave It All Behind. There’s also an added bonus, but I won’t spoil it for you. Just let us know what you think and be sure to hit up the Foreign Exchange on Twitter.
