I am in complete shock this morning. Why am I posting this flawless album for free? It was only a week ago that I had received the promotional copy of Where Is Danny?, and now they decide to drop it for free? For FREE!?!?! I am telling you, this is the BEST album of 2009, point blank. I don’t know the full scoop, but I feel like this seriously devalues one of hip-hop’s true gems. It looks like enough was enough as far as delays go, and they decided to just drop the thing. At least everyone will be able to hear this masterpiece. Hit Danny and Alex Goose on twitter to thank them for putting this together, that’s an order.

UPDATE: The album is being released for free since IMEEM and other writers decided to leak the album without permission. There will be a reworked retail version available on Definitive Jux shortly. Be SURE to support that when it comes around, these guys deserve it.

We have been following the leak campaign for the release of Danny’s Def Jux debut for some time now, and here comes another one! This joint is called, “Scrambled Eggs”, and it features some hysterical wordplay from Danny, something have become very used to lately. As we continue to support Danny Swain’s Def Jux campaign leading up to his LP, we release another single, this time with highly acclaimed emcee of Tanya Morgan fame, Von Pea. The prior leaks have been excellent, but this one takes the cake in my opinion. You can tell the Jux influence has been rubbing off on Danny, as this joint holds to be some of his darkest production. Quite an excellent collaboration as well, I didn’t really see this coming to be honest, but it worked out well. Von comes hard and absolutely kills the first verse, and Danny comes as the anchor and finishes strong. Check it out and stay tuned as we figure out when we will be able to get our hands on this LP…

According to sources, Who Is Danny?, Danny’s Def Jux release, will be dropping sometime later this month. I still don’t have an official release date so I can’t confirm this, but definitely something that will remain on the Potholes radar as we approach month’s end. We had dropped “Manic At the Disco“, a bit of a curveball compared to some of the stuff we are used to from Danny. “Sloppy Joe” is a bit of a softer track compared to the first leak, allowing you to see the contrasting sounds that we might be able to expect from Who Is Danny? After posting (and praising) the Jet Audio track featuring Danny!, and others, last night, the South Carolina emcee/producer hit us up with a new track from his upcoming Def Jux release, Where Is Danny?. And if this joint “Manic At The Disco”, a mix of psychedelia and shit-talking, is any indication, then that record is going to be a must-cop when it drops this month.

Personally, I’m digging the erratic rock sample that wavers around and the vibrant, sometimes-schizo drums. As for his rapping on here, Danny! sounds inspired as he spits with a  sarcastic chip on his shoulder, though it’s always been there. As usual, take a listen and let us know what you think.

It’s been a slow few days for us here at Potholes as far as downloads go, so I am hitting you with another swipe. This time it is a joint off Jet Audio’s upcoming project that will be released July 21st. Let me just start off by saying that this beat is smooth to the point of hypnotism. And we can’t go another second without mentioning the killer lineup that Jet brought for this one. It’s especially dope to see Danny! hop on this track, haven’t heard from him in quite a few.
