88-Keys just posted this somewhat never-before-heard cut featuring Colin Munroe over on his blog. While we only have a SoundCloud link for it, you’re still able to download “Wake Up Call” once you click around enough. Apparently this track was included in NBA Live ‘10 but contractual issues kept it from appear on the game’s soundtrack. That’s kinda (really) lame since this track’s a fresh little number that’s perfect for this heatwave currently blowin’ through New England. Dig it.
Here’s what looks like an insane (in a good way) tribute to my personal favorite group of all time – De La Soul. Mick Boogie & Terry Urban teamed up with a slew of artists (ranging from Tanya Morgan to Phife Dawg to 6th Sense to Camp Lo to Apple Juice Kid) for this project. I heard a leak the other day for Phife’s “Peace Porridge” and I can tell you I was interested off that track alone. Download, enjoy, and give thanks to one of the greatest groups to ever do it as well as everyone involved on this mixtape. Hit the jump for the tracklist.
The Kickdrums just released this killer uptempo joint, “Get Even” featuring Colin Munroe, and after one listen, we just had to post it up here. It’s perfect for the days of sun we have been experiencing lately, well at least up here in the Northeast. And even if it’s rainy where you are, this one might just inspire a mini-dance party. We showed love to the Kickdrums previously by posting their album Just a Game – shame on you, by the way, if you haven’t heard it yet. Props to GiantSteps.
Here is the long-awaited mixtape, Please, Hold from XV, courtesy of OnSmash & 2dopeboyz. From what I have heard thus far, XV definitely has talent. He comes with a very refreshing, unique vibe, which is good to hear from an up-and-comer. It is also pleasant to see that he surrounds himself with some high-quality artists like El Prez, Print, P.CASSO and more. Another standout on here is the production, some of the best for a mixtape that I have heard. Download it, give it a spin, and let us know what you think!
