Chocolate-Covered Bacon is Delicious: An Interview With Moe Pope

Moe Pope Chocolate Covered Bacon is Delicious: An Interview With Moe PopeI’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I personally believe that Moe Pope is the most talented rapper in Boston. Now, there are plenty of fantastic artists in Boston, many of whom receive shout-outs from Moe himself below, but there is something so pure about Mr. Pope. He’s brash yet collected; energetic yet composed; intelligent beyond measure and street-savvy. We took the time to talk with Moe about his new record, Life After God, being from Boston, and – you guessed it – chocolate-covered bacon. Hit the skip to read what he had to say.

Moe Pope – “Foolish” f. Reks

Moe Pope Moe Pope Foolish f. Reks

Yeah, I might be jockin’ but as we enter the second half of 2010, there are few upcoming album releases that have me as excited as Moe Pope’s Life After God (July 27, Brick Records). The album features Rain on production delivering smooth beats that (forgive the cheesiness) allow Moe to lyrically soar. Life After God also features some fantastic guest verses from many of Boston’s finest including Edo G and Reks, the latter of which delivers some superb bars here on “Foolish”. Part-nostalgia, part-hip-hop-thoroughbred, “Foolish” is an absolute treat. Give it a spin, hit the skip for the download and leave us your thoughts.

Video: Will C. – “Rocketbelt” (Pabst Blue Ribbon Promo)

Alright, hipsters – this one’s for you (kinda). Pabst Blue Ribbon, better known as PBR, has commissioned Will C. and a host of other like-minded hip-hop artists to put together a collection of PBR promo tracks that will be featured on a limited-edition blue vinyl 45, Pabst Raps, set to drop early this summer. I’m still awaiting more details on this project, but it’s sure to be a banger. Head on over to Will’s blog for more details, and enjoy this trailer by Will C., featuring his beat, “Rocketbelt” and actual footage of PBR advertisements from the 1970s. And if you haven’t already, go grab Will C.’s criminally slept-on full-length from last summer, Evil In The Mirror.

The above video gives a glimpse of their music, their live show, and some interviews with each of the members of the band. Check it out and be on the lookout for Bad Rabbits in your town.
