Blitz the Ambassador – “Something to Believe”

Blitz The Ambassador 1 Blitz the Ambassador Something to BelieveIs it just me or are mini-epics coming back as an accepted form of music videos? I mean, chances are I might have missed out on this breed of visuals over the past five years or so. That’s not entirely my fault, though, as most music channels don’t show videos anymore. But, to be fair, I was too lazy to find and then watch them online. Either way, I’m digging this returned appreciation for videos, particularly in the hip-hop underground and sorta-mainstream. Here we have what amounts to a short film scored by Blitz the Ambassador’s fantastic “Something to Believe”. It might seem daunting to watch at eight minutes in length, but come on, put that ADD on hold and enjoy.

You can watch the video after the skip. Stream the track below. Also, if you haven’t heard Blitz’s Stereotype yet…shame on you, sir or madam.

Blitz the Ambassador – “Yɛ da mo ase (Ghana Black Stars)”

Blitz The Ambassador 1 Blitz the Ambassador Yɛ da mo ase (Ghana Black Stars)I’ll confess a few things right off the bat. First of all, I’m not following the World Cup so I’m not entirely up on what’s going on beyond the random tweets and Facebook status updates I read from my friends who, apparently, love soccer. Ya know, if only Dave was around then he could provide some more insight into this post, but dude’s in South Africa for the friggin’ Cup so his Internet usage is limited. Oh, right, the second thing: I’m not entirely sure what Blitz the Ambassador is saying on this track, but you don’t always need to know the language to understand the message. Plus, new Blitz is always great to hear, so I can’t complain one bit.

Today marks the release of Blitz The Ambassador’s project, StereoLive. A short EP, featuring four live performances of songs from his album Stereotype (Album of the Year), along with one new song. All the tracks were recorded with a 12-piece live band, as well as some awesome features like Bajah from Dry Eye, Kate Mattison, John Forte, Tess and more. With the recordings, they captured the performances on tape, thanks to director, Terence Nance. Check the videos out after the skip and be sure to support Blitz!

Another late post here, but damn, damn, damn. This is an amazing performance of “Remembering the Future”, one of Stereotype‘s best tracks. Well, to be fair, that whole record is fantastic, but I always really loved this cut. This is first of five joints Blitz recorded with a 12-piece band so be on the lookout for the rest!

blitz emmet 300x300 Download: Blitz The Ambassador Emmet (S)Till [mp3]The man behind Potholes’ favorite album of 2009 apparently has an announcement to make. But before he does that, he offered this moving track, “Emmet (S)Till”. If you don’t know the story behind the track title, well, you’re lucky because Blitz explains it vividly over a melancholy, fitting backdrop. There’s really not much else to say other than you need to hear Blitz on this cut. Take some time to learn about one of the most horrific murders that ever occurred in our country.

Note: I know the boy’s name was Emmett, but this is how the track’s title was sent over.

optiks the beat tapeThe homie Optiks comes through today with a beat tape he has been crafting for a little while now. Coming in at only 12 minutes, this mix isn’t anything crazy, but it gives you an idea of what the man is working with. Along with this tape, you can expect to see more Optiks in the near future, on the emcee and instrumental tip. Shouts to Blitz the Ambassador on the drops here. And of course you are aware of the masterpiece these two dropped not too long ago in Stereotype. If you have slept on that, I urge you to wake yourself up and cop immediately!
