Truth be told, I had been meaning to check out Apatight’s production work for several months now. Most recently, I caught his name atop a best-of list over at Bloggerhouse and figured, well, it’s about time I heard his stuff for myself. And, as you can probably tell from my posting this, I was glad I did. The UK producer’s latest project, Aye Pee Beat Library Vol. 2, is a collection of instrumentals filled with the grooves and head-nodding drums of some of my favorite producers. While this second volume of his work gets off to a bit of a slower start, just wait until you get to “Paint Splash” and prepare to grab some Tylenol for your neck pain.

Now this is what I am talking about! Perfect for setting the weekend correct, Dela surprises us with a short beat tape sampling Robert Glasper’s In My Element. For those of you who do not know, I am a huge fan of Robert Glasper. So to see one of my favorite producers in Dela sample his work, that is an automatic win for everyone. I have yet to give this a listen, but expect nothing but greatness out of this project. Give it a spin and let us know what you think…

I feel like DJ Clue lately with this exclusive stuff, but hey, I can’t complain. Potholes is lucky enough to preview a lot of dopeness lately and the latest comes from one of my favorite up-and-comers Makeshift. This California-based MC-producer dropped a killer mixtape last year, The No Doze Mixtape, that caught my eye (ear?) with a quickness.

Now,  he’s back with The Sleepless Beat Tape, which actually features a few rhymes and vocals across its 10 tracks. Besides bars from Makeshift, we get some raps from Sirah and soulful vocals from Jeremiah Robinson. The Sleepless Beat Tape drops on Feb. 14, aka Valentine’s Day, exclusively right here on Potholes In My Blog.

Spotted this over at Crate Kings the other day, an interesting beat tape from a 17-year-old producer out of Sweden. His name is EB and I had never heard of him or his work until today, but decided to give his beat tape a spin and I was pretty surprised. The tape features a small collection of smoothed out instrumentals, which showcase EB’s ability to craft a fine loop and drum break. Nothing too elaborate, but you can tell this youngster definitely has some well-developed skills. Pay attention closely and you might notice some very recognizable melodies!

He hit you a few weeks ago with Volume One, but Rob Viktum is back with Volume Two for your listening pleasure. I was greatly impressed by that last project he put together, I had no idea that he was going to hit us again so soon. I feel like a lot of people slept on that last project, don’t do the same with the second volume. Take a listen and let us know what you think…

Los Angeles beatsmith, J. Bizness graces Potholes In My Blog for the first time with his beat tape, Reason: Beats & Pieces. Along with some tasty artwork you will find a free version of the delectable instrumental album that J will be releasing digitally June 9th. You may recognize Mr. Bizness from his feature on the Red Bull Big Tune Beat Battle as a finalist along with other notable beat makers like Brainstorm of Dyme Def or 14KT.
