Here is a very interesting find, thanks to the homie Marty. Over at Blockhead’s not so normal blog, we catch an unreleased joint he recorded with Aesop Rock back in 2000. This falls in between Aesop’s Float and Labor Days, which both of course are classic LPs. And even though this is rather old, it is always great to hear new music from these two. Give it a spin, share some thoughts, and enjoy!
Hail Mary Mallon, a super-group consisting of Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic and DJ Big Wiz, dropped this video last week for their single, “D-Up”. Marty put me onto it today and I instantly fell in love. Words can’t even describe what is going on in production, so you are just going to have to press play and find out for yourself. After hearing this, my anticipation for a full-length project from Hail Marry Mallon has grown to a very high level, and I am sure you will agree with me on that. “D-Up” is featured on the Def Jux IV compilation, available now. Major props to the directors, Alexander Tarrant and Justin Metros.
Mayer Hawthorne releases video for “Maybe So, Maybe No”. A nice breezy summer video for the second single from the forthcoming album A Strange Arrangement dropping September 8th on Stones Throw records. Check out cameos from House Shoes, Rob Dyrdek, and more.
As we lead up to the 5 O’Clock Shadowboxers solo debut on June 23rd, The Slow Twilight, Zilla & Douglas Martin hit us with the first officially leaked single. I can tell you that if you like Aesop Rock or Atmosphere, you will like this music, but I feel that that does absolutely no justice to them. This album is absolutely phenomenal, I have been bumping it for the past two weeks and I just can’t stop. If you need more convincing, go check out the interview I did with the guys last week. Also let us know what you think about this joint right here…
