8thw1 & 2 Hungry Bros – “Can’t Win ‘Em All” f. Fresh Daily, P.So, & Homeboy Sandman

8thw1 and 2 hungry bros 8thw1 & 2 Hungry Bros – Cant Win Em All f. Fresh Daily, P.So, & Homeboy SandmanAfter playing the album a handful of times, I cannot blame Potholes writer Ali Elabbady for gushing about 8thw1 & 2 Hungry Bros’ killer No Room For Dessert. It’s a rarity these days that a record can be so direct and contain massive replay value. Maybe it’s the fact that the entire album feels like one long freestyle session with 8thw1 spitting over ever-rotating, funk-laden production from 2 Hungry Bros. One of the finer examples of this is “Can’t Win ‘Em All”, which features 8thw1 being joined by fellow AOK family Fresh Daily, P.So, and Homeboy Sandman, the last of whom tackles the hook only. It makes for a great lil’ posse cut that’s paired up with one of the more hilarious videos I’ve seen this year, which you can view after the skip here. I swear, these guys have way too much fun doing this music shit.

Stream “Can’t Win ‘Em All” below and check the visuals after the jump.

P.SO – “Vintage Clothes” f. 8thw1 & Daniel Joseph

p.so P.SO Vintage Clothes f. 8thw1 & Daniel JosephI don’t know about you, but I’ve been looking forward to P.SO’s Suicide By Jellyfish for a while now. Hell, it’s been that way ever since I heard his Earthtones and Moontones projects. I have to admit, I’m a bit of a sucker for some of the music that is dropped by the AOK Collective as it is typically, at the very least, worth several listens. And here we have the latest leak from P.SO’s forthcoming Suicide By Jellyfish project. “Vintage Clothes” finds the MC joining forces with Daniel Joseph and 8thw1 to spit over a flipped Paul McCartney sample, which comes from a track by the same name. Definitely feeling this and interested in what you’re all thinking.

UPDATE! Exclusive: 8thW1 & the 2HungryBros – “Paradigm Shift” [mp3]

8thW1 & 2hungrybrosIn light of The Blueprint 3 just dropping and the slew of superficial hip-hop out there today, 8thw1 and 2HungryBros decided to give their two cents on the situation. 8thw1 takes some choice shots at several known offenders *cough*The Cool Kids*cough*The Knux. Listen to find out who and why he feels compelled to share his thoughts with the world. This track will not be making an appearance on the upcoming collaboration album between 8th & the 2HungryBros, NO ROOM FOR DESSERT. But “Paradigm Shift” definitely deserves a light of its own. Props to Deep for giving us the exclusivity on this one! Check it out and share your thoughts on this pot stirrer…

Dilla Week: The Tribute Post “How Did J Dilla Change Your Life?”

553954188 l Dilla Week: The Tribute Post “How Did J Dilla Change Your Life?”Today marks three years since the passing of James Dewitt Yancey, otherwise known as Jay Dee or most notably, J Dilla. The Detroit producer/emcee/singer is no longer with us, but his character and music is timeless. The bumping bass, drums and impeccable sampling resonate throughout hip-hop, as his music touched so many artists and fans alike. I am not one to elaborate on the man’s impact on music, but the artists that we have gathered today can vouch for these statements on the utmost level.

Here are brief statements from Amanda Diva, Black Milk, Ilyas & Donwill of Tanya Morgan, Count Bass D, Zo!, FinaleTrek Life, 8thW1, 6th Sense, Keelay & Zaire, IMAKEMADBEATS, Rob Vikum and D/Will on how J Dilla changed their lives.

Continue to join us for the rest of the week as we celebrate J Dilla’s life with more tributes and features including DJ YNOT’s exclusive mix tonight!

Check out what these fantastic artists have to say about J Dilla and let us know how J Dilla changed your life in the comments section after the skip…
