If you’re a Potholes regular, you have probably noticed we dig what’s come from the 5 O’Clock Shadowboxers. Their The Slow Twlight was easily one of the best surprises of last year and now they’re coming back with a new project. Broken Clocks EP will bring more of the hazy, slightly creepy, and sometimes-epic greatness from the duo of Zilla Rocca and Douglas Martin, aka Blurry Drones. “No Resolution 2″, a return to a track from The Slow Twilight, is the EP’s first leak and sets the bar pretty high with guest spots from Has-Lo, Elucid, and Nico the Beast. Three exclusives in a row? That’s what’s up! This time we hit you with a remix from one of my favorites groups to emerge in 2009, the 5 O’Clock Shadowboxers. If you don’t know already, the Shadowboxers consist of emcee Zilla Rocca and producer Douglas Martin, and they released their free album, The Slow Twilight, not so long ago. At first I was a bit skeptical about hearing a remix of this joint, the production was on-point to begin with But luckily Small Pro, who you may have seen on Potholes over the past few months, came through big time. This song and a few other remixes and unreleased joints from the Shadowboxers project can be found on an EP that will be released later this3 Fall/Winter. And since we are on the subject, be sure to catch the video for “High Noon”, coming soon to a computer near you! Check out the remix and let us know what you think…

Exclusive: 5 O’Clock Shadowboxers – “Bottomfeeders” (Small Professor Remix)

The moment we have all be waiting for, the official release of the 5 O’Clock Shadowboxers debut album, The Slow Twilight. If you have visited Potholes at all the past month, then you have noticed at least one post praising this record right here. Emcee Zilla Rocca and producer Douglas Martin sure cooked up a classic LP right here, and the best part about it, it’s free! Once again I am going to say that this may not be for everyone, but it is definitely worth giving an hour of your time. Zilla put his heart and soul into these rhymes and Douglas stirred up some mighty fine beats sampling some modern day indie legends like Elliott Smith and Radiohead. But now is the time for me to shut my yapper and for you to check it out for yourself. Music like this doesn’t come often people, so grab it while you can. As we lead up to the 5 O’Clock Shadowboxers solo debut on June 23rd, The Slow Twilight, Zilla & Douglas Martin hit us with the first officially leaked single. I can tell you that if you like Aesop Rock or Atmosphere, you will like this music, but I feel that that does absolutely no justice to them. This album is absolutely phenomenal, I have been bumping it for the past two weeks and I just can’t stop. If you need more convincing, go check out the interview I did with the guys last week.
