Ta-ku – Dusty [Album Stream]

Down Under (Perth, to be exact) producer Ta-ku recently released (via Bandcamp) a collection of jazzy, fun boom-bap instrumentals he had laying around. Aptly titled Dusty (and I’m hard pressed to think of a more informative and to-the-point album title in recent memory), these tracks are indeed dusty- you can practically smell the mildew from all the crate-digging necessary to get this much killer source material. The snares are snappy, the kicks are solid, the bass goes directly to the nether regions and the melodies stick with you. Soulful vocals and vintage strings abound, giving Dusty a low-key ‘party time’ vibe- this is the auditory equivalent of a good late-afternoon barbecue with a few good friends. It’s summer right now where Ta-ku’s from, and giving Dusty a spin will let you share about 40 minutes of it.

Hit the skip to stream and purchase the album.
