West Coast beat maestro Suhnraw returned last week with another killer Bandcamp release. Titled 4U, the album picks up in the groovy, bouncy territory where his February release, Soul, left off. Surgically precise sample cuts, vacuum-sealed vintage grooves and squeaky-clean post-production touches are all hallmarks of Suhnraw’s sound, and it’s clear he hasn’t lost a step yet. Bright and sunny, with round, pulsing bass tones and snares that crack hard enough to give the listener whiplash- this is some severely party-oriented, thoroughly funky boom-bap, well worth repeated bumpings as the weather gets nicer.
