Sufjan Stevens – “Too Much” (Live on Fallon)

Sufjan Stevens threw his best visor on backwards and hopped on Jimmy Fallon last night in an appearance that reminded me of equal parts Parliament Funkadelic and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.  And though this technically wasn’t his network debut there — he sang back-up when The National were on Letterman — it’s still a fun watch.

It’s almost as if he’s showing how creative he can be, completely outdistancing himself from his peers in terms of artistic freedom.  Oh, you like electronic music now? How about I make an electronic album that slays?  Oh, you think you’ve seen quality art rock?  Wait til you see me on Fallon! I’m Sufjan Stevens, damnit!  Or not.

Either way, I’m still enjoying this album and this performance does nothing to dissuade me.  Stream after the jump and check the track out below. We have also included the official video for the track.
