Somewhere across the United States-Canada border, producer-deejay hybrid Skratch Bastid is smiling. The Canadian recently released his remix of Future’s “Move That Dope” – which also features music’s (current) leading man, Pharrell, alongside the likes of Pusha T – to the tune of Future Islands’ “Seasons”.
Bastid strips away much of the heavy trap ingredients of the original “Move That Dope” to curate a remix that floats from beginning to end (excusing the brief interpolation of Migos’ “Versace”). The lofty, supportive backdrop paints its creator, Skratch, as a bit of a visionary: such a pairing is certainly surprising, but the blend pays off.
