Did you know that Archy Marshall does more than simply release some of the best music we’ve heard this year as King Krule? True story. He also makes beats under the alias DJ JD Sports and they are, as you might have guessed, pretty damn good.
Marshall just uploaded a collection of his latest instrumentals to Soundcloud with the title “batch1” and they run for nearly 11 and a half minutes. They’re mostly light, lo-fi affairs that sound like they were crafted in his bedroom at around 1 a.m. in between sips of bourbon. Or something like that. If you want to hear my personal favorite cut of the bunch, skip ahead to the seven-minute mark for a piece driven by hand claps and pianos.
I just wish this had a download option, though maybe that’s a good thing because it will ward off potential beat-jackers. You can hear the batch below.
