The work of Jesse Boykins III has always been a bit of an enigma. His output has been scarce, but dam near every bit of music he drops has been noteworthy. Finally, five years after his last album, Boykins has returned with Love Apparatus. Sporting a futuristic blend of soul and R&B, the singer-songwriter seems more focused than ever. Backed by production from the masterful Machinedrum, there’s no telling the impact of what is sure to be one of 2014’s finest recorded accomplishments.
