We’re a week away from the release of Big KRIT‘s sophomore album Cadillactica. Hard to believe this only his sophomore album considering the plethora mixtapes and features we’ve got from KRIT since 2010. Given the number of producers on the new album such as DJ Dahi, Raphael Saadiq, Jim Jonsin and Alex da Kid, KRIT certainly seems open to outside production versus just doing everything himself. And you can certainly hear the difference on the title track, as well as “Soul Food” featuring Raphael Saadiq.
His Def Jam debut Live from the Underground was really lackluster in comparison to his first two mixtapes mostly due sample clearances. So it’ll be interesting to see how Cadillactica holds up for his sophomore album. Lyricism has never been the issue with KRIT, but being a rapper/producer is quite the balancing act, and it doesn’t equal a successful album. Big K.R.I.T.’s new album Cadillactica is in stores Nov. 11. You can pre-order it on Amazon now.
