Stik Figa and Oddisee latest track, which was co-produced by Dunc of DTMD, doubles down on the promotional tip. At first glance, Figa’s ode to his hometown of Topeka would serve solely as a preview of the newly released Mello Music Group compilation, Helpless Dreamer. And while it certainly serves that purpose, “From The Top” is also a mini-precursor of what we can expect from Oddisee and Figa’s forthcoming collaborative EP, From The Top. If this track is any indication, it sounds like we’ll have another strong Oddisee-affiliated project on our hands Nov. 30.

Dope track. Is it just me, though, or does the underlying beat here sound a lot like that found on The Chaconne off of Dessa’s A Badly Broken Code?
