As any dictionary will tell you, a “denizen” is an inhabitant of a particular place. For producer Spoony Bard, that place is Philadelphia. The always-sunny city is rich with artists pushing the limits of instrumental music, much like Spoony does here on Denizen. The five-track EP is heavy on that jazzy boom-bap tip, but there are enough other instrumental touches to make it more than just another “beat project.”
