Something Meaningful is from Orlando, Fla. Saying such a thing out of the context of this blog post would sound weird and yet deep. But we exist in this context of hyperlinks and pixels and so Something Meaningful is a band. A band who not only covers Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” but has a self-titled EP that makes it OK that they covered a song with such gravitas. They describe their EP as “post-wave” but it sounds different from all of the cold/new/post/dark/chill waves that exist out there. The songs have a lot going on, but never too much. There are bridges and layers of instrumentation but they actually sound like they have some experience with such musical elements. Which is a bit refreshing, I’d say.
