Potholes Premiere: Stream Soil Creep’s Weirdo-Earworm “Gan Dabht”

Some songs lull you into a false sense of security, so many of them relying on massive “drops” for cheap thrills. They’re fun, sure, but there’s not much left once you lose your mind—and maybe even your head. Irish producer Soil Creep (real name: Aidan Wall) knows this, and he puts it on full display throughout his danceable-but-not-really new album, True Enough. He put it out through our friends over at Crash Symbols, who reached out to see if we’d like to premiere a track. As soon as I heard opener “Gan Dabht,” I knew it was the one.

Like some of the other cuts on the record, it grabs you ear through a series of building sounds, most of which are percussive and a bit noisy (maybe even industrial). “Gan Dabht” stands out, however, because of just how perfectly it sets the tone for the remainder of True Enough. The introductory offering of sounds tease your palate, like an oddball appetizer you can’t stop eating even if you don’t know what the hell it is. But you keep nibbling, chewing, and enjoying it, because you’re hungry for more. Then the beat creeps in and, damn it, you’re hooked.

You can hear “Gan Dabht” below and buy True Enough on Bandcamp.
