No, hipsters, this isn’t Small Black. It’s Soft Black, and they kick way more ass. I first heard this Brooklyn band way back when their “The Earth Is Black” record appeared on the Anticomp Folkilation, which was filled with some truly special music from the New York anti-folk movement. Today we have a live performance from the band presented by Green Screening, which is a great site for fun live performances on the regular.The song “Lions” appeared on Soft Black’s 2009 effort, The Earth Is Black, but they are also working on an EP called We Scatter Light, which should be available some time this year.
