On June 25, the world will hear Slum Village‘s new album, Evolution. It’s led by surviving member T3, who’s joined by rapper-producer Young RJ and J Dilla’s younger brother, Illa J. Additionally, there are guest features from Blu, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Raheem DeVaughn, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Rapper Big Pooh. On the production tip, the beats are handled by Young RJ and T3 along with Focus, who will also contribute vocals to the album. The lead single, “Forever”, can be heard here.
Evolution is the first Slum Village album since 2010’s Villa Manifesto. Even though there’s been about a three-year difference between the releases, the group has dropped several free projects in the meantime.
UPDATE: So Flying Lotus might either lend beats to this album or the one after it. Holy crap.
