Slamagotchi, 19-year-old Australian DJ, doesn’t use turntables. Instead, he concocts beats via his laptop, though it doesn’t take away from his music’s majestic nature. “Too Early” uses ambient female vocals, a knock-knock bass line, tons of tics, claps and rising synths to create his environment. His track skips and waves in your ears like you’ve got some leftover water stuck in there. While I don’t know much about this kid, I do know his “biggest influence is AFTA-1” who released a sweet hip-hop mix that was a nod to Michael Jackson’s classics. [via] So, if he’s got the same spunk, I’d expect Slamagotchi to be a name you hear for a while. [via]
