With all the hoopla surrounding Nicki Minaj’s seemingly overnight success and Lil’ Kim and Foxy Brown’s botched attempts at comebacks lately, you’d think they were the only female MCs working. They’re not, and there’s heat all over the place. These talented ladies deserve our attention. Take Signif for example. Signif’s a Milwaukee born MC living in New York City. “Box of Sigarettes” is the bonus track off her upcoming EP of the same name. Here producer Gee Wiz lays down some drums and a bed of muted keys while Signif scorches the track. If “Box of Sigarettes” is what’s on the cutting room floor, this EP is going to be a monster.
