Sometimes, a music video can help you better understand the actual music within the piece. Other times, it can serve as the vehicle for the narrative within the lyrics or instrumentation. And somewhere in between, the perfect music video can accomplish both of those things. I’m not saying that Shigeto‘s “Detroit Part 1” is perfect, simply because I’m not ready to make that claim already. But I am saying that it is a stunner and total mindf–k, much like the song itself.
It’s safe to say that the team behind the piece crafted a truly engaging viewing experience, which depicts Shigeto getting murdered by another version of himself, traveling through Detroit, and more.
