While we put together our list of the best albums of the first half of 2011, I’d like to take some time to reflect on two records that received the coveted 5 out of 5 rating here at Potholes. First, there’s Beastie Boys’ return-to-form showcase Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2, an album so refreshing and full of energy that it makes you wonder if they have stumbled upon the fountain of youth. Falling into similar territory is Shabazz Palaces’ amazing Black Up. It’s difficult to fully explain just how dope that album is, so you kind of just need to click on its name to read our boy Craig Jenkins’ review. And while you’re at it, you should check out Shabazz Palaces’ great session at Daytrotter. These dudes are just…the best.
