Now-Again Records has continued to push the envelope when it comes to international music. The latest single release from Seu Jorge & Almaz is no exception. Originally recording a song for a Walt Salles film, the band soon went on to create an entire album together. The band consists of – drummer Pupillo and guitarist Lucio Maia from the stalwart Nação Zumbi, with bassist and composer Antonio Pinto. You may know Seu Jorge from his more than awesome role in The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou as well as City Of God. Two of my favorite movies of all time! The self-titled album features several covers of American and European soul songs, with the band’s unique Brazilian samba twist. While I am not well versed in Brazilian music, I can definitely relate to some of the songs they decided to cover, such as “Everybody Loves the Sunshine”. The album will be available July 27, so mark your calenders and give these two leaks a spin.
