Lil B‘s career has been a bit of a farm system for young producers. His 20-plus song mixtapes depend on the beats from those that can match his oddness. People that sound like Shun Di probably would if he was dicing up samples instead of taking swigs and kicking. sergioisdead is one such individual, and his new project, ENJOY, displays some of that nontradionalist rap beat-ery (or maybe it displays something else). On “Frankie” he takes Frank Ocean‘s pom pom flailing track, “Forrest Gump”, and makes it sound like the sample source came from some old Middle Eastern recording. And there’s 14 other songs on there that sound pleasant even without positivity rap.
