SELA. – Everything Is In Relation To Something [Album Stream]

Everything Is In Relation To Something is the newest project from Vallejo, Calif.’s SELA. and it’s a lo-fi jazzy affair.  But it doesn’t sound like the melancholy jazz that you’ll find in those stereotypical dark bars full of grey-haired men stubbing out cheap cigarettes and nursing their alcoholism.

It’s like the instrumental hip-hop version of those even-keeled nightclub bouncers that show nary a smile or a frown. But there is a track called “manwithpenis ii” and a creepy voice that seems to be a dude whispering “wake up,” which is a terrifying combination. And I’m not positive but I think the album cover features a couple guys playing Mortal Kombat. It could be another fighting game, though, so I’m sorry if I’m wrong, nerds.
