Samiyam – “Snakes On The Moon”

samiyam-wish-you-were-here-tapeLast week I told y’all that West Coast producer (and sometimes rapper) Samiyam was releasing a new album on Leaving Records/Stones Throw. And now, Wish You Were Here is out digitally and on cassette through the label partners and it will then be up for grabs everywhere else on Oct. 8.

To celebrate the release, he’s shared a stream of off-the-wall instrumental “Snakes on the Moon” that crawls (no pun) out of a cave of madness-inducing samples. Once it’s out in the open, the beat sounds like it’s capable of conjuring the most awful beasts imaginable, but in doing so, they’d be caught in a trance controlled by Samiyam. That sounds insane, but so does this song.

In regards to the overall direction of Wish You Were Here, Sam said the following:

“I’m just trying to show where I’m coming from,” he says, “I’m not about futuristic spaceship beats, just straight forward hip-hop.”

Word.

You can hear the track below and buy the album on Stones Throw.
