I’ll still stand by Three 6 Mafia as the best use of Willie Hutch’s “Tell Me Why Our Love Has Turned Cold”, but Ryan Hemsworth‘s interpretation is pretty damn fly. A Way‘s first track, “It’s a Tennessee Thang”, samples the screeching orchestra, adds some bass kicks to complete a dance/electronic/hip-hop excursion. Really, it’s hard to pin down what A Way sounds like. One moment it stands upright, Saturday Night Fever-esque, then it’ll smooth out taking James D Hall’s “I Wanna Get Into You” for some soulful hip-hop. This six track album touches base all around the musical map and it’s better for it. There’s no right way to make music, but there is a way. (Am I getting cheesier as the days go by or what?)
