RUFFNOTES Is Back With A New Flip Of Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle”

notes-to-self-recoilThe combination of Toronto-based rap group Notes to Self and United Kingdom-bred animator RUFFMERCY proved to be simply insane when they decided to link up an drop a remix of Pusha T’s Don Cannon/Kanye West-produced single, “Numbers on the Boards.” While the remix of the song (production by Book & Bronze and raps by Notes to Self) was ill, the video (originally directed by So Me) received the RUFFMERCY treatment, which spiced up the already dope visual.

On American Thanksgiving (just another day in Canada), Notes to Self dropped a mix for Scion Sessions in promotion of their upcoming show with New York’s former man of mystery, Your Old Droog, in February. The Scion Sessions features 2003 World DMC Champion, DJ Dopey, cutting up and piecing together the crew’s last record, Target Market [Recoil], released through Decon Records (now Mass Appeal Records). Along with cuts from the previous record, the mix also features the previously released “Numbers on the Boards” remix and the new “Backstreet Freestyle” remix.

Take a listen to the entire mix to get yourself acclimated with the crew (if you haven’t already) and pray we get a RUFFMERCY remix video for this flip like we got for the Pusha T one. If you are in the Toronto area, check out Notes to Self along with Your Old Droog on February 21 and be sure to peep the projects from Notes to Self and Your Old Droog now.
