A suspension of time and sonic space has yet to fail ATLien Rome Fortune thus far. Following the visual release of fan-favorite “Ice Cream Man” – a stellar song from last year’s Beautiful Pimp – just two weeks ago, the calm, suave and charismatic rapper is back with the Goodwin-directed, Cito On The Beat-produced song/video “I was on one, I can’t lie”. The track serves as the first single for Rome’s Beautiful Pimp II, the anticipated sequel to BP. A fascinating, truly unique blend of laid-back rhymes and chopped-and-screwed vocal scratches make for a song with plenty of replay value.
Goodwin, who additionally fulfilled filming and editing duties, has accumulated a formidable arsenal of work in a shockingly short amount of time. He is the sole videographer for rapidly rising Boston artist Michael Christmas, the man behind the camera for Young Thug’s million-view-nearing “Loaded“, and Rome’s go-to guy. Together, Rome and Goodwin achieve a subtle greatness.
Watch “I was on one, I can’t lie” below, and check back Feb. 12 for the release of Beautiful Pimp II.
