“Women can’t rap? You bumpin’ my sh-t!”
When Rapsody spit that line on “Facts Only”, I had to stop the track and think for a second. “She’s right,” I thought, shaking my head at the fact that I’ve been trying to put folks on to her for several years now. It goes without saying that if she wasn’t a “femcee”—that’s gotta be, like, one of the worst rap-related terms ever—she would have more fans.
And I’m going to leave it at that, because in the end I think Rapsody will have more fans with every song, video, and project she releases. As made incredibly clear on “Facts Only”, she can rap her ass off and she has a strong ear for beats. Not a bad combo if you ask me, because, if I can paraphrase Phonte here: “This track has a dope beat, dope rhymes, so what more do y’all want?”
