When I learned that Random, aka Mega Ran, was working on an album dedicated to Final Fantasy VII, the nerd residing in the far reaches on my brain squealed like a rabid tween. He linked with producer Lost Perception to craft Black Materia, which he has released here for free as an eight-track EP. This won’t be the last we hear of this project, though, as it’s dropping as a full-length album next Tuesday, Jan. 31. For now, though, you can enjoy some choice cuts from Black Materia, which includes features from Ilyas, of Tanya Morgan, Maja, and several others.
