What a clever idea. Are you’re against videos that’ll make you think, did Inception scare you? Prince Ea‘s “BACKWARDS RAPPERS” isn’t for you. I hate the term ‘conscious rap’, because it pigeonholes artists and implies only some rappers are making meaningful statements about politics, race when they’re stepping up to the microphone. Even if the ideas aren’t explicitly laid out in the lyrics, the performance itself can evoke conversation. This video starts out as most stereotypical music videos do. There are bottles popping, money in the air and then takes a turn that’ll make it impossible not to watch again…and again. What’s with the “SWAG! SWAG!” in the beginning? Odd Future rip. Ea’s video is well-crafted and certainly “the realest ish.” [via]
