Premiere: Watch Clipping.’s Intense Live Short Film

clipping-liveIn early February, we were put on to one of the more exciting rap releases of the year, Clipping.’s Midcity. It was one of those “out of nowhere” type projects that hit you upside the head like a shovel … in the best way possible. The visceral, raw, and noisy affair showcased the talents of producers William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes and rapper Daveed Diggs, who seamlessly intertwines between the static and near-beats with an instinctive and natural flow.

So when we got hit up to premiere their new live short film, we were more than enthusiastic about it. The Patrick Kennelly-directed video looks like it was ripped from a moldy VHS tape scooped up at your neighborhood flea market. In other words, it’s brilliantly edited and matches the vibe of Midcity perfectly. I strongly advise you to cop that album immediately, give it a listen (or two), and watch this film to truly grasp Clipping.’s sound and style.
