Kid Vishis – “Look At All My $**t”

For those unfamiliar, Kid Vishis is the younger brother of Royce Da 5’9″ and over the years, the two have worked together a number of times. But the Kid is going solo on “Look At All My $**t”, his latest single that finds him going somewhat all-over-the-place lyrically over production from Hippie Sabotage and Chase Moore. I had actually never heard the work of the latter, but I was excited given the beats we’ve enjoyed this year from Hippie Sabotage. Too bad that’s simply not the case on this cut.

I’m not really sure who’s to blame on “Look At All My $**t”, which has some potential if it didn’t do exactly what Vishis sing-songs on the bridge: “You bein’ tryin’ so hard to convince your fans.” He might have a tongue-in-cheek approach at certain points, but the beat is so obviously of-the-moment that it can’t really be taken seriously when it wobbles after otherwise killer moments during the verses. It’s nothing if not terribly distracting and truly takes away from this rapper’s solid bits of bravado.—Andrew Martin
