Potholes Submissions Roulette (Vol. 2)

submissions-rouletteLast month, we kicked off a new feature, Potholes Submissions Roulette, that aims to accomplish just what you might think. Basically, I (Andrew Martin) head into the dark recesses of our submissions email, which gets hundreds of messages each day, and pick a track, mixtape, video, etc… to cover at random. More often than not, we’re finding that a lot of the submissions we get are better than we might expect. We could just be getting lucky or maybe we’re just realizing how there is quite a bit of talent out there bubbling below the surface.

To be completely real, the “abundance” of talent is not unheard of when you think about how new countries are gaining more and better Internet access than ever before. There is so much music that we haven’t heard yet because of mere web-usage restrictions that it’s almost anxiety-inducing to think about. But that’s fine, because with all those could-be-talented artists comes more chances for us to stumble upon their gifts. The total opposite is possible, too, but hey, I’m trying to be more positive lately.

    Thank you!!!

  2. These series of posts are great! As a long time reader, I feel like it reflects why this site became one of the two or three music blogs that I follow on a regular basis and the only one I read on a daily basis. Same goes for the monthly “artists/producers you should know” series you guys started doing a few months back
